Racing Bulls left the Belgian Grand Prix with fresh attention on and off the track after Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad were photographed flying home on an easyJet commercial flight, a low-key image that quickly spread online just as the team drew level with Alpine in the constructors’ fight.
Photos and video of the pair on the flight circulated on social media, including a selfie Lawson posted on his Instagram story with the caption, “Shoutout EasyJet.” Fans leaned into the contrast with Formula 1’s usual private-jet culture, with one writing: “Oh man, what are the odds of meeting two F1 drivers on a commercial flight?” Another added: “I love everything about this: that they're flying together and that they're flying a cheaper airline.”
The trip came after another points-scoring Sunday for the Faenza-based team at Spa-Francorchamps, although its run of four straight double points finishes ended. Lindblad finished ninth to score two points, while Lawson came home 12th.
That result carried extra weight because Racing Bulls did not have equal machinery in Belgium. The team’s latest upgrade package was fitted only to Lindblad’s car at Spa, with Lawson set to receive the full package for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Lindblad said after the race that the progress is becoming more tangible. Arvid Lindblad, speaking to Sky Sports F1, said: “I think every weekend, I'm getting more comfortable, more competitive.” He added: “The team are doing a really good job to continue to bring performance to the car and it's showing on track.”
Even with Lawson out of the points, Lindblad’s finish was enough to move Racing Bulls level with Alpine on points in the constructors’ championship, with Alpine still classified ahead on countback. That gives Hungary immediate significance, especially with both cars due to have the same upgrade package for the next round.
