Bortoleto Confirms Long-Term Audi F1 Future

Gabriel Bortoleto has moved to end questions over Audi’s future Formula 1 driver plans by confirming at the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend that he is already tied to the manufacturer on a long-term deal.

Asked by Sky Sports F1 about his position for 2027 and beyond, Bortoleto made clear there is no uncertainty on his side. “My future is already sorted with Audi,” he said. “I am there for many years, let’s put it this way.”

The Brazilian stopped short of giving the exact length of the contract, but his message was that the commitment runs well beyond the short term. He described it as a multi-year arrangement and said he was happy to leave any formal disclosure to the team itself. “I cannot say the length of the contract, and I leave it to them if they want to make it public,” Bortoleto said. “I really don’t mind, it’s up to them, their decision.”

That public clarification matters because Audi’s lineup had become a talking point ahead of 2027. Bortoleto’s remarks effectively close off speculation around his own seat, and they arrived after recent assurances from teammate Nico Hülkenberg about his future as well. Taken together, the two statements leave Audi’s driver pairing looking far more settled than it did when questions were still being asked about whether the team could make room for Carlos Sainz.

Bortoleto also framed his contract as part of a much longer project with the German manufacturer rather than a holding arrangement through Audi’s early seasons. “What I can tell you [is] I have a long way [ahead] with them, it’s going to be many years, and hopefully we can conquer many great wins and things in the future together,” he said.

The timing of the confirmation also underlines Bortoleto’s place in Audi’s first campaign in Formula 1. He has scored all 10 of the team’s points in 2026, including eighth-place finishes at Silverstone and Spa. The Spa result was reported as both his best finish of the season and Audi’s strongest result so far.

That makes Bortoleto more than just a contracted driver in Audi’s plans. By publicly stating that his future is already decided and that he expects to be with the team for many years, he has positioned himself as a fixed part of Audi’s build toward the next phase of its Formula 1 project and removed one of the biggest uncertainties around its 2027 lineup.
